Goal Setting

Creating a goal in Mindset only takes a minute. Then it's all about committing to your plan to achieve it. By reading this, you've taken your first step towards making that commitment. That's a great start.

Now ask yourself - am I really, fully, 100% committed to achieving my goals? If so, then let's talk about how to create goals that get real results using the Mindset app.

Why Set Goals?

Goal setting works because you've decided where you want to go and you have a plan to get there. Choosing the right goals puts you in control of your destination.

Spending a few minutes each day reflecting on your progress is an important part of this process. Mindset lets you create regular reminders for each goal you create. Reacting to it should be a non-negotiable part of your daily routine.

Setting Goals With Mindset

Step 1:
First, think about the biggest goal you want to achieve right now. This might take months or years and can be an outcome goal:

  • I want to win the league.
  • I want to be a regular first team starter.
  • I want to run a Marathon.

Whatever your goal is, it will be unique to you. When you are done reading this, go to the goals section of the Mindset app and add this as a season goal.

Step 2:
Break down what you need to do to achieve this goal. You should aim for 3-5 sub-goals and to make sure your goals are SMARTER: Specific, Measurable, Achievable, Realistic, Time-based, Enjoyable and Recorded. Examples include:

  • I will practice mindfulness every day.
  • I will train 5 times a week.
  • I will do 20 passing drills this month.
  • I will eat 3 healthy meals and only snack on fruit every day for 3 months.

Achieving your sub-goals should give you a realistic chance of achieving your bigger goal.

Now add each of these goals to the Mindset app. You can also set up reminders for each one. Over time, they will create a picture of the work you are doing and how well you are succeeding at each of your goals.

What's next?

Now that your goals are set up, check in to the app regularly and update your progress towards your daily, weekly and monthly goals. Using the app in this way will help you to stay focused and accountable.
